QualificationsI am a freelance professional genealogist of over 20 years’ experience. I have written 'Tracing Your Family History', first published by Collins in 2004, and also 'Tracing Your Irish Family History' and 'Tracing Your Scottish Family History' (both published by Collins in Britain and Firefly in North America); Quercus’s ‘Who Am I?’, a guide to genealogy for children, and books about tracing house history and the life of Henry Jermyn, the founder of St James’s in London. I have been resident genealogist and co-presenter for many television and radio shows, including Channel 4's 'Extraordinary Ancestors'; BBC1’s ‘Gene Detectives’ and Radio 4's 'Meet the Descendants'. I am resident genealogist for the Genes Reunited website and write for all the main genealogy magazines, with regular columns in ‘Your Family Tree’ and ‘Family History Monthly’. I am also, as a matter of interest rather than qualification, descended from Thomas Cromwell, Earl of Essex, the man who first introduced parish registers to England and Wales in 1538. ServicesI provide a comprehensive genealogical research service through a network of qualified researchers throughout the British Isles and beyond. I can undertake small individual searches, or help you over specific problems, or handle the whole work of planning, implementing and reporting research. I can write up family histories and family trees, investigate surname origins and look into all matters relating to heraldry and house histories. What ever your genealogical needs, I have the experience and enthusiasm to meet them. I can also advise on DNA tests for genealogy, heraldry, and adoption searches.
