Qualifications
After nine years in the Royal Navy I retrained as a historian, gaining an upper second in history. My interest in family military history stems from my grandfather and his brother who both fought during WW1, the latter was killed at Ypres.
Services
I work mainly at the National Archive, Kew but have access to the IWM, NAM and local regimental archives. My speciality is The First World War. I research not only individual soldiers, airmen, marines and sailors but also their unit histories from primary sources to build up a full picture of their military experience. I have access to trench maps, war diaries, ships logs, RAF operational record books, description books, medal rolls etc et al.
I also research anything naval or military from c1700 onwards. Personal record post-1920s are still with the MoD but operational records to Suez, 1956 and ships logs to the 1970s are available.
Fees
My fees are based upon each individual project and are extremely competitive. In many instances I add information from my comprehensive library and also information packs, gratis. Feel free to contact me without any obligation.
