Genealogist & Researcher in Archives: Kirsty F. Wilkinson

I am an experienced genealogist based in Edinburgh, Scotland and have been researching professionally since 2006. I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Genealogical Studies from the University of Strathclyde and am a member of the Association of Scottish Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (ASGRA), the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), The Scottish Genealogy Society and the Society of Genealogists.

My mission is to assist clients in the discovery of their Scottish ancestors through thorough, informed research among the wealth of genealogical and historical material held in Scottish archives, including:

  • The ScotlandsPeople Centre
  • National Records of Scotland (formerly National Archives of Scotland)
  • National Library of Scotland
  • Scottish Genealogy Society Library
  • Edinburgh City Archives
  • Glasgow City Archives & The Mitchell Library
  • Edinburgh University & Lothian Health Services Archives
  • Scottish Catholic Archives
  • And many other Scottish Archives, Libraries & Local Studies Centres

My skills in palaeography (reading old handwriting) enable me to carry out research in pre-1700 records and I offer a transcription service for old Scottish and English documents. This service is designed specifically for genealogists and the old documents used in family history research including parish records, wills, testaments and deeds.

I am also an experienced heir- and descendant-tracer and have successfully located heirs to estates on behalf of probate research firms in the UK, Europe and the US and enabled private clients to reconnect with long-lost cousins.
