Qualifications

My name is Mary-Ann Vandaveer. I have been doing genealogy since 1971 and have researched my maternal ancestors back to the 1400s and my paternal Brown ancestors back from Kentucky to Georgia in 1862. I volunteer for a number of genealogical and historical organizations in the United States and in Germany and have been a member of the genealogical society 'Verein für Familien- und Wappenkunde' in Baden-Wuerttemberg since 1985. I lived in the United States and have worked for the US Military. To assist others in their quest to find lost family members, friends, ancestors and descendants I have set up SearchingForYou a professional tracing service.

One of the aims of SearchingForYou is to reunite people with their birth families, e.g. locating former military members of World War II occupational forces, also to locate their child or children overseas, locating the birth parents of adopted children. I am in very good contact with the authorities.

People Searches

• Each search is different. Please contact us for a free estimate.
• 50% of the search fee to be paid upon receipt of the search application (plus 19% sales tax within EU) and another 50% 90 days after receipt of the application (plus 19% sales tax within EU).
• Includes translations and document transcriptions from german into english and vice-versa.

Please note, I make no profit of this service. All money goes towards the searches. The fee for this type of search is needed to cover some of the costs. While I always make every effort to keep any additional costs at a minimum it may sometimes be necessary to order photocopies of records or other documents or information from other sources or, translations/transcriptions from/into other languages, these will be billed at actual cost. All other copies, phone calls, translations [english-german and vice versa] are included in the search fee.

Genealogical Research

For genealogy research I offer fixed price packages:

• BONUS PACKAGE
  
  
  • There is not a minimum or maximum number of generations. You set your price by the number of generations you want researched. No guessing how much this research might cost you in the end!
  • Copies, phone calls, translations [english-german and vice versa} are included in the search fee.
  • Cost: Euo 125 for the first 3 generations, Euro 55 for each additional generation; postage for your package.
  • There may be misc costs such as microfilms, translations / transcriptions from / into other languages, birth, marriage or death certificates etc.
  • A Euro 100 deposit is required to start this research. This amount will count towards your package.

  RESEARCH PROTOCOL
  You will receive a complete, detailed research report, any available copies of documents or digital images of records, certificates, pictures, cemetery markers and any other information I might be able to locate about your ancestors home town, e.g. town history, tax lists etc. at the conclusion of the assignment.

  All information will be computerized using genealogy software and will include lineage charts and family group records showing your line of descent. All sources will be referenced.

• GIFT CERTIFICATES
  
  
  • Gift certificates are available in any denomination with a minimum purchase of 34 Euros.
  • Gift certificates are transferrable, not redeemable for cash and expire two years from date of purchase.
    
    
• SINGLE SURNAME RESEARCH
  
  
  • The following information will be provided in single surname searches: name, date of birth and marriage information.
  • This package is not an extensive research in the history of a person, but provides you with valuable information to begin more extensive researching on the family or just an individual.
  • A birthplace must be known to perform this search.
  • Copies, phone calls, translations [english-german and vice versa} are included in the search fee.
  • Cost: Euro 17 per hour; postage for your package.
  • There may be misc costs such as microfilms,Translations / transcriptions from / into other languages, birth, marriage or death certificates etc.
  • A Euro 50 deposit is required to start this research. This amount will count towards your package.
