Qualifications

The principal researcher, Steven Bruce, has been involved with genealogical research for twenty-five years, the last fifteen of which have been in a professional capacity. For the past six years Steven has also taught Family History and Genealogical Research Methodology at a number of colleges within the county: at Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Tadcaster and York. He is a member of various societies including the Society of Genealogists, the Family History and Parish Register sections of the Yorkshire Archaeological Society along with being a member of a number of more localised family history societies within the county. More recently, Steven has been involved in the genealogical research courses currently certified by Toronto University in conjunction with the National Institute of Genealogical Studies.

Services

As the name suggests, Yorkshire Family History provides a complete research service for people wishing to trace their Yorkshire ancestors. Having our research premises centrally based within the City of York enables easy access to all of the archival repositories of the county. This central location also provides further advantages to our clients: the majority of probate material for the whole of Northern England is deposited at the Borthwick Institute of Historical Research within five minutes of our research premises, a short walk along the city walls. The City of York is also home to a LDS genealogical library and is a constant venue for our research.
